The child fare is half of the adult fare.
The child fare for the Kyoto City Bus and the Subway both round up to the nearest 10 yen. For example, 125 yen becomes 130 yen.

2In regard to Toddlers
A Riding the bus as a Toddler
If a toddler boards the bus or train by him or herself, the fare will be equivalent to a child fare. If more than one toddler boards the bus or train by him or herself, the fare will be equivalent to a child fare times the number of people.
B When a toddler is accompanied by an adult (guardian).
- If a toddler(s) is accompanied by an adult (who is a guardian), then the fare required for the toddler(s) is reduced to zero.
- If a toddler(s) is accompanied by an adult (who is not a guardian), then the fare required for the first 2 toddlers is reduced to zero. The third toddler and above will be charged the child fee.
A Request to Legal Guardians
How to notify the bus driver or subway station staff that you are accompanying a toddler(s).
Please follow these 2 guidelines when getting on and off the bus or subway.
- City Bus
- Inform the driver that you are accompanying a toddler(s) when paying the fare and get off the bus.
- Subway
- When entering and exiting the station platform area, inform the staff at the ticket gate that you are accompanying a toddler(s) and pass through the ticket gate together.
