Treatment Plants in Kyoto City
@Domestic and industrial wastewater flows into Treatment Plants through sewer pipe under the ground. There are 3 Treatment Plants and a branch in Kyoto City: Toba, Kisshoin, Fushimi and Ishida.
Toba Treatment Plant
@Toba Treatment Plant is the biggest plant in Kyoto City. This plant started its operation in 1939. Some of the facilities have adopted the advanced treatment process such as anaerobic-aerobic. This plant is open to the public in spring. Please come and see our beautiful flowers blooming on a 120m long wisteria trellis.
Kisshoin Branch of Toba Treatment Plant
@Kisshoin Treatment Plant started its operation in 1934 and is the oldest plant. A part of this plant has adopted the oxygen aeration activated sludge process. By the ozonation process installed in the plant for disinfection and color removal, the stream of Nishitakase River was cleaned up. As a result, this plant was awarded by the Ministry of Construction.
Fushimi Purification Plant
@Fushimi Treatment plant started its operation in 1973. This plant covers a lot of famous Sake brewing factories in its treatment area. The anaerobic-aerobic process has been introduced in order to remove phosphorus as well as organic matter.
Ishida Treatment Plant
@Ishida Treatment Plant started its operation in 1981. As the plant is located in a housing area, it has a covered and semi-underground structure for controlling odor.
@In 2004, this plant obtained ISO 14001 certification to promote environmental protection.
