@Due to the expansion of urbanization, urban type of flood occurs frequently. In order to prevent flood, the stormwater management goal has been converted from the 5-year probable rainfall intensity to 10-year probable rainfall intensity by constructing the storm trunks and the storage trunks.

@Combined sewer system in which both stormwater and wastewater is discharged has been using nearly 40% of treatment districts in Kyoto City. In this area, stormwater exceeding a certain amount, is discharged into the river combining wastewater. At the present, pipes over 50 years (the Depreciation period) are increasing that the need to re-new these pipes are required. Reconstruction of Treatment Plants and pumping stations are also significant.
