New Slogan for the Kyoto City Traffic Bureau Decided
"Let's Explore the City of Kyoto by City Bus & Subway!"

Name of Kyoto City's Bottled Water Changed from "Kyoto's Water – Canal Story" to "Kyo-no Kagayaki – Canal Story"

As a result of a public questionnaire and research, Kyoto City has decided to change the name of the bottled water produced by the city from "Kyoto's Water – Canal Story" to "Kyo-no Kagayaki – Canal Story."

Since the public questionnaire revealed that the former name, "Kyoto's Water – Canal Story" is already quite recognized in the city, it was decided that the new name would retain the phrase, "Canal Story." "Canal Story" refers to the Lake Biwa Canal, the vital source of water for the entire city. Instead of "Kyoto's Water," "Kyo-no Kagayaki" literally means "Glorious City of Kyoto" which represents a wish that Kyoto will continue to flourish and remain glorious for all time.

[Future Plans]
A new bottle design will be created. The best-before date will be extended from five years to ten years. The new "Canal Story" will start to be produced and sold around March, 2018.

Regarding the new bottle design, the city will appoint "TENSAI ART KYOTO," an NPO which promotes art activities for physically/mentally challenged citizens. In this way the city can support such a worthwhile cause while at the same time coming up with an attractive and original new design.
