Research Paper by the Kyoto Municipal Institute of Industrial Technology and Culture Selected as a Particularly Important Technological Paper
A research paper titled "Low-thermal Expansion Inver Electrocasting Technique," written by the Surface Engineering Team of the Kyoto Municipal Institute of Industrial Technology and Culture, has been introduced on the website of the Advances in Engineering (AIE), a Canadian research company, and was selected as one of the particularly important paper on technology. Generally, papers featured by the AIE attract significant attention from engineers, professors, and scientists from around the world. Therefore, it is anticipated that the technology developed by the Kyoto Municipal Institute of Industrial Technology and Culture will prevail internationally.

Elimination of Power Poles on Pontocho Street Launched
In order to preserve the beautiful and historical scenery in the city as well as to improve disaster defense and provide a safe environment for pedestrians, Kyoto City has been promoting projects that eliminate power poles on the streets. One of the designated streets is Pontocho, which is one of the five Kagai districts where the unique cultural world of geiko and maiko remain alive. Eliminating power poles on Pontocho has been discussed since 2015 and it has been decided that the project will be launched from February 2017 and will be completed in 2019.

The 150th Anniversary Projects of the "Taisei Hokan"; when the Restoration of Imperial Rule in the Meiji Period Started
This year, 2017, marks the 150th anniversary since the "Taisei Hokan"; the year the Restoration of Imperial Rule in the Meiji Period took place in 1867. This was a major historical moment in Japan's history and marked the end of the political dominance of the warrior class and the start of the nation's reformation. Kyoto City, along with twenty other cities around Japan with a strong connection to the historical figures who played important roles during the restoration period, has started the 150th Anniversary Projects of the "Taisei Hokan." A stamp rally connecting those cities will be organized until December 2017.

New Kyoto City Bus Timetable for a better and more comfortable service
From March 2017, the Kyoto City Bus will provide a new timetable. The new timetable aims to be more convenient for local people and tourists by providing a greater number of services on the main crowded routes, more services in the early morning and late evening, and better connections with train services.
