"Create a Mutually-supportive Society, Kyoto Hohoemi Plan" Formulated

A mutually-supportive society is the society where everyone, regardless of whether a person is able or disabled, can live with security and based on mutual support. Kyoto City has formulated the "Mutually-supportive Society, Kyoto Hohoemi Plan" which plans how to achieve supportive society for physically challenged people between 2013 and 2017.

The plan will comprehensively promote issues of welfare, medical, education and labor based on the five core goals including 206 concrete plans, such as to improve a support system in local communities, to provide support for companies in order to encourage to employ physically challenged people, to increase barrier-free facilities, etc.

Cinema Collage and Special Cinema was Opened in Former Rissei Elementary School

To nurture young film creators and to promote Kyoto's film culture, Kyoto City organizes "Rissei Cinema x Cinema Collage Kyoto" in the site of former Rissei Elementary School on Kiyamachi Takoyakushi, Nakagyo Ward.

Lectures by Kyoto-related film directors, classes about acting, scripts and publicity will be organized. Cinema projectors will be set in the old classrooms where films by younger generation directors and Kyoto-related films will be screened.

Proposed Shareholder Proposal to the Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc.

After the Eastern Japan Great Earthquake happened in March 2011 and disaster of the Fukushima Daiichi Power Plant run by the Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc., one of the urgent efforts of the city has been to achieve an electric supply system without depending on a nuclear power plant as soon as possible.

How the electricity supplier manages their role in society is a crucial issue to sustain the life of citizens. As a shareholder of the Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., Kyoto City has submitted proposal this year again after last year.

One of the proposals, "Abandon nuclear power generation and ensure a secured society" is an independent proposal from Kyoto City while six other proposals, including "Ensure disclosure of management", were submitted with Osaka City.

Residence Registry Code Will be Indicated on the Residence Registry of Foreign-registered Citizens

From July 8th, 2013, residence registry code will be indicated on the residence registry of foreign-registered citizens. Based on this, foreign-registered citizens can receive the resident registry card and can take administrative procedures online which requires identification procedure by electronic certificates. It will also be possible to receive other administrative services, such as acquiring the residence registry in other cities and wards.

People who have residence registry in Kyoto City as of July 8th will receive a letter from the city by the end of July. Please make sure to keep the document.

A 500 yen service charge will be necessary to issue the resident registry card.
