Kyoto City Mayor Election Day on February 17th
11 February 2007
February 17th was election day for the next mayor of Kyoto City. The votes were accepted from 7:00 to 20:00 (except for some areas) on that day. Citizens who could not vote on that day, were able to take advantage of early voting or absentee voting until February 16th at the local ward offices and branch offices. An electronic voting system was used in Kamigyo and Higashiyama wards for the first time. People in these wards were able to vote just by touching the name their chosen candidate on a screen. This election is very important to decide our new representatives. For further information, contact the Kyoto City Election Administration Committee: Tel: 075-241-9250.
