1.Exhibitions

Main Exhibitions

Permanent Exhibition : Masterpieces from the Museum Collection is a year-long series of themed exhibitions of works from the permanent collection.
Special Exhibitions : Exhibitions of contemporary and modern art are presented with specific themes.

Competition Exhibitions

Kyoten : Following the Shiten begun in 1935, this exhibition has featured works submitted from across the nation since 1945.
Nitten : The Nitten Foundation's Kyoto exhibition is held at the Museum.

Co-sponsored Exhibitions

Exhibitions of modern and contemporary art from Japan and abroad are presented with the cooperation of various external organizations.

2. Research

The Museum staff conducts art and craft research.

3. Acquisitions

Art works, art related materials, books and other materials are acquired regularly.

4. Artist Support

The Museum supports artists, including the provision of space and support for exhibitions.

5. Promotional Activities

The Museum promotes opportunities for citizens to experience and deepen their understanding of art through the publication of Museum News, and sponsorship of art classes, workshops and lectures.

6. Friends of the Museum

Members receive free or discounted tickets to exhibitions and invitations to lectures, tours and more.
